Stacey McCann, former assistant superintendent for school improvement and intervention at Bloomfield Public Schools, has been named the district’s new Chief Academic Officer.

McCann has played a key leadership role in improving student performance, particularly at Bloomfield High School.  She replaces Ann Marie Cullinan, who was serving in an interim capacity. Cullinan will assist as a part-time consultant during McCann’s transition into her new role.

In other administrative changes for the 2017-18 school year:

Jill Naraine will serve as Interim Principal at Carmen Arace Intermediate School, filling in for Sarah Williams, who is on a maternity leave of absence through December.  Following this assignment, Naraine will retire. She has worked in education for 27 years.

Jesse White, formerly principal at Metacomet elementary school, will return to Bloomfield High School as Principal on Assignment.  White will join Principal Daniel Moleti and Director of Literacy Dr. Beryl Bailey in providing administrative support and leadership overseeing numeracy and science at the high school.

Freeman Burr -- a veteran and distinguished education leader, who has worked in Hartford Public Schools and is a former Superintendent of Schools in Shelton - will serve as Interim Principal at Metacomet.

Nicola Poplin, who previously served as Dean of Students at Global Experience Magnet School, has been the Interim Principal at GEMS, since July 14, 2017. She replaced Sabin Loveland, who was hired as principal at WAMAGO High School.

A national search has begun for the next Principal of Global Experience Magnet School.
