JP Vincent K-2 Elementary School                                    September 2010

I would like to take this time to welcome all of you to our new J.P. Vincent K-2 Elementary School.  We have had an exciting start to our year and we look forward to working with your children.  I know the buses have been a problem.  We are working hard to fix all the problems so that your children get to and from school safely and on time.  Please continue to call or stop in to see me if you are experiencing bus or any other school related problems. 

• Please remember that school starts at 8:40AM.  Students will be marked late if they arrive after 8:55AM (They will not be marked late if the bus is late)
• If you are dropping your child off after 8:40AM, please enter the main building with your child and go to the main office to sign in and receive a pass
• Please use the drop off area ONLY if you are not walking your child into school.  If you plan on driving your child to school and walking them to the back of the school, please park your car in the lower lot-THANK YOU!!!
• Please do not park in the circle; this is reserved for buses from 8:15AM-9:15AM and from 3:00PM-4:00PM.
• Disregard the sign that says “RIGHT TURN ONLY” near the circle.  You may exit the same way you entered-we are in the process of getting the sign fixed.
• Do not drop students off and then leave-especially if you do not see staff on duty
• For safety reasons, please give the teacher 24 hour notice before coming to visit a classroom
• The J.P. Vincent day ends at 3:25PM.  Please try your best to schedule appointments after this time so your child does not miss instruction
• Thank you to all parents who came out for our first PTO meeting on Tuesday, September 7
• Congratulations to our new PTO Co-Presidents: Ms. Eunice Medwinter and Mr. Steven Dunn, our new Co-Treasurers: Ms. Sharon Harris and Ms. Santosha Oliver, and our new Co-Secretaries: Ms. Chastity Hamilton and Ms. Tiffany Leiba-Peters!  I look forward to working with you and building our new school family!!! 
• Congratulations to our Volunteer Coordinators: Ms. Georgia Smith, Ms. Rochelle Myles, Ms. Nnecka Hill, and Ms. Keren Prescott.  I am excited to work with you and to help enrich our student’s knowledge with engaging programs
• Here are some important dates to remember:
  • OPEN HOUSE NIGHT- Tuesday, September 14 from 6:00-7:00PM (gym and classrooms)
  • PTO Meeting- Tuesday, October 12 from 6:00-7:00 (cafeteria).  Executive Board meets from 5:30-6:00PM

I feel honored to work here at J.P. Vincent.  We have an excellent staff!  Your children are the BEST!!!  You, the parents, have welcomed me here and have given me your support.
