Bloomfield Teachers of the Year were honored at the school system's year-end Education Celebration on May 26. Also recognized at the ceremony at Bloomfield High School were retirees and employees with 25, 30 and 35 years of service. Dr. Arlene Harris, president of the Bloomfield Education Foundation presented checks for $200 to the Teachers of the Year on behalf of the foundation, which raises money to enhance educational offerings in the public schools. Teachers of the Year for each school are Diana Bunting, Carmen Arace Middle School; Steven Carrier, Bloomfield High School; Meegan Bunch, Metacomet School; Sharlene Parker, Carmen Arace Intermediate School; Jil Robinson, Big Picture High School; Tricia Lee, Laurel School; Judy Johnson, J. P. Vincent School; and Mary Munson, Wintonbury Early Childhood Magnet School. “The Bloomfield Education Foundation is pleased to join with the school system in honoring the Teachers of the Year,” Dr. Harris said. “We recognize the impact they’re having on the students in our schools. The checks are for them to use as they see fit for miscellaneous items that enhance their students' learning experiences, since teachers often spend their own personal money for such items.” The district’s Teacher of the Year will be named later this year and will compete for the title of State Teacher of the Year. |
