A lot of great things are happening here at Metacomet! With the start of the 2015-2016 school year Metacomet is continuing to grow as a pillar within the Bloomfield community.
As the new year begins we'd like to welcome the following new staff here at Metacomet:
Barbara Coppa - Third Grade Teacher
Jane Zagorsky - Fourth Grade Teacher
Kayce Lyles - School Psychologist
Diane Crook - Librarian
Jesse White - Principal
Our new Principal Jesse White is in the building! Jesse tranferred to the position of Principal here at Metacomet School from Bloomfield High School. The staff and students are very happy to have Mr. White, and are happy to welcome him to the Metacomet family!
Last year Desi Nesmith, Principal at Metacomet became a Milken Award recipient. The Milken award is given annually to educators across the country who show exceptional talent, provide models of excellence and professionalism, and who engage, inspire, and motivate students, colleagues, and their community. Mr. Nesmith was the only award recipient from Connecticut, and were proud to have him here as our Principal at Metacomet.
As the year begins we are excited for the return of our interns in the Student Family Assistance Center. For another year Metacomet and the Bloomfield Public Schools have partnered with several local colleges and univerisites to provide our students with tier I interventions in working together as a school community and conflict resolution. Here at Metacomet this program is lead by our social worker Ms. Lester-Harriat.
Our first music concert will be taking place in February. Concerts take place at the Carmen Arace auditorium, and features our students led by our music teacher Mrs. William-Smith.
