The second grade students were treated to a story written by our own Shayla O., and her grandmother Ahma. It is called The Ashy Monster. It is about a princess in desperate need of lotion. She searched far and wide until she finally found some. It was great!
Ahma, as she is lovingly called by granddaughter, wrote the book a few years back. with the help of Shayla. She created her own publishing company and has written several other books such as The Dog Named Paris, The Fair Umbrella and more. One children's book in particular, called Sometimes Granny Forgets, is about Alzheimers disease and explains to children why grandparents sometimes forget things.
Ahma started writing in high school, but then took some time off to pursue other avenues. Needless to say, her heart has returned to her passion of  writing along with her granddaughter, an aspiring writer-to-be.
Her books are available on line at Amazon.com as well as Barnes and Noble.com. They are hoping for hardcover copies sometime this summer.
