As part of its ongoing efforts to prepare students for college and meaningful careers, Bloomfield Public Schools is launching a collaborative, town-wide initiate to help sharpen the district’s vision of a successful high school graduate.

The Portrait of a Graduate project begins in earnest Monday, March 29, when Board of Education members share their thoughts about the academic skills, mindset and achievements expected when a student graduates from Bloomfield.

Over the next several weeks, district and school leaders will also hear from district staff, the town council, community members, town and district partners, families, faith-based organizations, business leaders and those from academia.

Week of March 29 - April 1 - Board of Education

April 5 to April 9 - District Staff

April 19-23 - Families, town partners

April 26-30 Students 5-12, Corporations/Businesses, Higher Education

“The goal is to identify and align within our curriculum ideal learning experiences needed for our students to prosper in a 21st Century global economy,’’ said Bloomfield Public Schools Superintendent Dr. James Thompson. “This process helps the district define how it prepares students for the challenges ahead. Bloomfield is a school district with clear aspirations for Excellence in academics, athletics and the arts. This Portrait of Graduate work moves us closer to becoming a district of Excellence.”

Once the Portrait of a Graduate is completed it will be adopted by the Board of Education this spring.
