Ribbon Cutting

The school district officially launched two new school-based health centers with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on May 22 to commemorate the occasion. The partnership between Bloomfield Schools and Integrated Health Services began in the Fall of 2023, and sites became licensed January 22, 2025.

Bloomfield Public Schools, in partnership with Integrated Health Services, welcomed guests for the official opening of the centers at Laurel Literacy Academy and Carmen Arace.

School-Based Health Centers are grant-supported medical clinics, licensed by the Department of Public Health, located within school buildings. They offer essential services including medical care, behavioral health supports, and health education - ensuring that students and families have access to the care they need, right where they learn.

Students at both Laurel Literacy Academy and Carmen Arace have been benefiting from these services since September 2024. However, this ceremony marks the official acknowledgment of the district’s commitment to this impactful partnership and its long-term vision for student wellness.

Dr. Tracy A. Youngberg, Superintendent of Schools, says, “We are excited to celebrate the opening of these new health centers at Laurel Literacy Academy and Carmen Arace. Through our partnership with Integrated Health Services, we are taking a major step in supporting the health and well-being of our students. These centers have offered vital medical care, mental health support, and health education directly within the school environment, making it easier for students and families to access the resources they need to succeed.”
