Metacomet Elementary School would like to recognize Trinity Davis, who was chosen to host the 2025 Junior Achievement Partners in Achievement Breakfast at the Hartford Marriott.
Junior Achievement (JA) is a nonprofit organization that prepares young people for the real world by focusing on financial literacy, career readiness and entrepreneurship.
Last school year, during one of JA’s visits to Laurel Literacy Academy, they met Trinity, a second grader at the time, who was a student ambassador, assigned to bringing JA volunteers to various classrooms. This encounter contributed to a life-changing experience and opportunity for Trinity because after conversations and interacting with her, a JA representative decided that they wanted Trinity to host one of their biggest sponsor events. Kudos to Trinity, but that was not the most exciting part.
What many do not know is that for several years, Trinity was reading below grade level and lacked confidence when it came to reading. While at Laurel, Trinity started receiving intervention services and was able to improve in her reading and build her confidence. Who would have thought that a child that once struggled with reading would have been able to read a 22-page document to an audience of 533 people with correct pronunciation and expression! Receiving intervention services was truly a game-changer for Trinity and contributed to her success with hosting this major event.
