Paul Guzzo

Bloomfield Public Schools is proud to announce that Mr. Paul Guzzo has been selected to receive the 2025 CEA Excellence in Education and Advocacy Award. The award will be presented to Mr. Guzzo, and four other recipients, at the CEA Celebrates Education and Advocacy Gala being held Friday, October 24, 2025 in New Haven, Connecticut.

In his role as Principal of Metacomet School, Mr. Guzzo was nominated for this award by educators who deeply appreciate the relationships he has built with all community stakeholders, including members of the Bloomfield Education Association (BEA). Mr. Guzzo is being celebrated for his accessibility, steadfast commitment and willingness to go above and beyond to ensure his students get what they need.

Dr. Youngberg, Superintendent of Schools had the following to say, “I have had the distinct pleasure of working with Paul as a principal colleague in Bloomfield many years ago and now as his direct supervisor for the last nine months. Mr. Guzzo truly exemplifies this recognition as he is always advocating to improve practice on behalf of his students, staff and families. He genuinely cares about everyone in the community.”

Gail Jorden, BEA President, shared the exciting news with the Board of Education “This award reflects a strong dedication to both improving education for our students and advocating passionately for our teachers.”

Mr. Guzzo has worked for the Bloomfield Public Schools since 2008 serving as principal of J.P. Vincent, Laurel Elementary and Metacomet Schools over the past 17 years.
