It was an exciting day of dreams and discovery at Laurel Literacy Academy’s Career Day! The school buzzed with enthusiasm as students came dressed to represent their future professions—doctors, artists, police officers, paleontologists, and so many more!
The day began with a lively parade through the halls, where students proudly showcased their career aspirations to cheering classmates and staff. Following the parade, students had the opportunity to meet with a variety of community professionals who shared their experiences and insights. Visitors included mail carriers—who even brought along a mail truck for students to explore—along with members of the police and fire departments, and representatives from the town’s public works team.
As a special highlight, Superintendent Dr. Tracy Youngberg and Mayor Anthony Harrington joined the event to speak with students about leadership, community service, and the importance of following their passions.
The Laurel community extends a heartfelt thank you to all who took time to share their careers and inspire the next generation of dreamers. Second grader Yang summed up the spirit of the day perfectly when he told Mrs. Holliday, “Thank you for arranging this learning experience.”
It was truly a day filled with curiosity, excitement, and big dreams for the future. Be sure to check out next week’s newsletter for photos from this wonderful event!
