Students at Penwood

The Donald F. Harris Sr. Agriscience & Technology Center has had an eventful start to the month, filled with hands-on learning, student achievements, and community engagement.

On November 7, students in Dr. Bowman’s class participated in the Nursery Landscape Career Development Event (CDE) competition at UCONN, placing 5th out of 11 schools. A special congratulations goes to Vaughn Glanville, who placed 6th overall, and to the entire team: Brianna Brown, Vaughn Glanville, Shineil Gray, and Cassie Santana.

Students also took part in an FFA activity—a scenic hiking trip through Penwood State Park—strengthening teamwork and leadership skills outside the classroom.

The Center was proud to welcome prospective students from Windsor for a shadow day, offering them a guided tour and a firsthand look at the unique experiences available to Agriscience students in Bloomfield.

Looking ahead, the Center is preparing for its annual Holiday Bazaar and Open House on Monday, November 24, from 5–7 p.m. All are invited to join us for this festive and engaging community event!
