Bloomfield Public Schools is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms. Tamika Lipscomb as the next Director of Bloomfield’s Extension, effective January 20, 2026. Following a rigorous selection process that included performance-based tasks and interviews with two separate committees, Ms. Lipscomb emerged as the successful candidate.
Bloomfield Extension—the district’s before- and after-school care program—enters this new chapter following the recent retirement of its longtime Director, Ms. Kristine Johnson. Ms. Lipscomb brings strong institutional knowledge, a commitment to student-centered programming, and a deep understanding of the Bloomfield community as she steps into this leadership role.
A proud Bloomfield High School graduate, Ms. Lipscomb graduated in June 2002 and returned to serve the district in October 2006. Over the past two decades, she has held a variety of roles within Bloomfield Public Schools, building a deep foundation of experience in both instructional support and extended learning. Her career includes serving as a Counselor in the Extension Program at JP Vincent School, an Instructional Assistant at CAMS, Assistant Coordinator and later Coordinator of the Extension Program at JP Vincent School, District Coordinator of the Extension Program beginning in 2020, and now Director of Extension.
Ms. Lipscomb shared that applying for the Director role felt like a natural next step in her professional journey. She is passionate about working with students in smaller, supportive settings and values the creativity and flexibility that quality extended-day programming allows. Among the strengths she brings to the role are her creativity, strong organizational skills, and dedication to providing high-quality programming that allows students to explore new experiences.
Her connection to Bloomfield Public Schools runs deep. Ms. Lipscomb’s mother, the late Gail Lipscomb, served the district for many years as an administrative assistant and her aunt, Lestina Herroitt, also worked and retired from Bloomfield Public Schools. Inspired by their commitment and love for the district, Ms. Lipscomb followed in their footsteps and has built a career dedicated to serving Bloomfield’s students and families.
As Director of Extension, Ms. Lipscomb looks forward to growing the program, developing staff, and continuing to provide families with high-quality care that blends enrichment, learning opportunities, and a safe, supportive environment for students.
Bloomfield Public Schools congratulates Ms. Lipscomb on this well-deserved promotion and looks forward to her leadership in this important role.
