Bloomfield Public Schools proudly partnered with the University of Hartford for “Helping Hawks Day,” a community-wide day of service held on Friday, April 10, 2026. This collaborative initiative brought University of Hartford students into Bloomfield schools to support classrooms, connect with students, and strengthen community ties.
Throughout the day, UHart student volunteers were placed across multiple schools in the district, where they assisted with classroom activities, mentored students, and contributed to a positive and engaging learning environment. Activities varied by school and included UHart students engaging our students in conversation about their college journeys and future plans, planting flowers, playing games with students, and supporting schoolwide beautification efforts.
“Helping Hawks Day was a powerful example of what is possible when PK–12 and higher education institutions come together with a shared commitment to community and student success,” said Lisa Lamenzo, Executive Director of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership. “It highlights the power of connection and community in meaningful ways that inspire future goals, broaden perspectives, and strengthen their sense of belonging.”
This partnership reflected Bloomfield Public Schools’ ongoing commitment to expanding college and career awareness opportunities while fostering a strong sense of civic responsibility among both K–12 and college students.
Bloomfield Public Schools extended its sincere appreciation to the University of Hartford, its staff, and student volunteers for their time, energy, and dedication to our Bloomfield community.
