BHS Capstone

On April 28 and 29, Bloomfield High School proudly hosted its annual Senior Capstone Expo, a culminating experience that highlights the knowledge, skills, and passions of the Class of 2026. Over the course of two days, graduating seniors presented projects that reflected months of research, hands-on learning, and personal exploration aligned with their future goals.

The Capstone Expo is designed to give students the opportunity to connect their academic experiences with real-world applications. Through brief presentations, students shared their project journeys, discussed outcomes, and responded thoughtfully to questions from evaluators and guests. The event not only showcased academic achievement but also emphasized communication, critical thinking, and career readiness.

Visitors consistently praised the students’ professionalism and enthusiasm. Dr. Tracy Youngberg, Superintendent shared, “I had a great time learning from the BHS students this morning. As always, I was impressed with their maturity, knowledge, and enthusiasm.” Guests also noted the wide range of career pathways students explored, from psychiatric nursing and the Army Nurse Corps to careers as electricians, childcare directors, financial analysts, and athletic trainers.

In addition to presenting their projects, many students proudly shared their post-graduation plans, including the colleges and universities they will attend this fall. These moments highlighted the strong connection between the Capstone experience and students’ next steps beyond high school.

District and school leaders emphasized the deeper impact of the Capstone program. “Capstone is the perfect example of bringing our Portrait of a Graduate mission to life,” Lisa Lamenzo, Executive Director of Teaching, Learning, and Leadership, noted. “It makes learning relevant, engaging, and truly life-changing by empowering students to think critically, communicate effectively, solve problems, and adapt to new challenges.”

The success of the 2026 Capstone Expo was made possible through the collaboration of faculty, staff, community evaluators, and families who supported students throughout the process. Most importantly, it reflected the dedication and achievement of BHS seniors, who demonstrated they are well-prepared for college, careers, and life beyond high school.

Congratulations to the Class of 2026 on an outstanding Capstone experience!
