Bloomfield Public Schools proudly recognizes Jennifer Coleman as the 2026–2027 Bloomfield Public Schools Teacher of the Year, honoring nearly two decades of dedication, compassion, and excellence in education.
Coleman’s passion for teaching began at an early age, inspired in part by her mother, who worked as a paraprofessional. After graduating from Eastern Connecticut State University, Coleman joined Bloomfield Public Schools in 2007 and began her career at Carmen Arace Intermediate School, where she has made a lasting impact on generations of students.
For Coleman, teaching is about much more than academics. She finds the greatest reward in seeing students discover their abilities, gain confidence, and develop a love of learning.
“One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is having a front-row seat to watching kids' growth and discovery and making it fun so that they love learning,” Coleman said. “Building strong relationships that help my students feel safe, valued, and loved is one of my favorite parts of what I do.”
Coleman also credits the Bloomfield community and her colleagues for making the district such a special place to teach.
“Bloomfield is such a wonderful place to teach,” she said. “I am so blessed to have been able to be part of such a welcoming community. There is such a strong connection between students, their families, and staff—it truly makes you feel like you are part of something bigger than yourself.”
Throughout her career, Coleman says her students have taught her the importance of flexibility, relationships, and meeting the unique needs of every learner. She also recognizes the important role families and the community play in student success.
Looking ahead, Coleman hopes Bloomfield continues to invest in its schools and students.
“I hope our town continues to recognize that strong schools are at the heart of a strong community,” she said. “Seeing former students return to work in our schools and serve the next generation is a full-circle moment and a beautiful reminder of the impact our community can have.”
Jennifer Coleman’s commitment to her students, collaborative spirit, and passion for inspiring a love of learning exemplify the very best of Bloomfield Public Schools.
Coleman will be formally honored by the Bloomfield Board of Education at its December 8, 2026 meeting.
Bloomfield Public Schools congratulates Jennifer Coleman on this well-deserved recognition and thanks her for the lasting difference she continues to make in the lives of students, families, and colleagues.
