Last night at halftime, BHS proudly unveiled the new signage officially renaming the gymnasium the Donald F. Harris Jr. Gymnasium.

Donald F. Harris Jr. dedicated 39 years to the Bloomfield community as a teacher, Athletic Director, Vice Principal at Carmen Arace Intermediate School, and Principal of Bloomfield High School. His leadership, commitment, and care for students left a lasting impact on generations—both in the classroom and on the court.

We are proud to honor his legacy and ensure his name continues to inspire all who walk through the doors at BHS.

During the week celebrating Dr. King’s life and impact, our schools came together through learning, reflection, and service - demonstrating that his legacy lives on through action and compassion.

A special highlight was the inspiring work of Mairi Carchrie-Leigh, a senior at Global Experience Magnet School, who led a meaningful Day of Service as part of her Eagle Scout project. With support from a fellow student and members of BSA Troop 1149, Mairi organized and sorted donations for her community hygiene pantry - an initiative she has worked on for months to provide essential personal care items for individuals and families in need. The pantry will soon be installed at Wapping Community Church in South Windsor, creating a lasting resource for the community.

Mairi’s leadership, dedication, and commitment to service embody the true spirit of MLK Day - turning words into action and making a real difference. We are proud of all our students and staff who continue building a more inclusive, respectful, and caring community every day. You can read the full article on our district website.

Help Our Seniors Dress for Success!

The Bloomfield School to Career Office is collecting gently used, clean business-casual clothing to support Bloomfield High School seniors as they prepare for their Senior Capstone Career Expo this spring. Blazers, ties, and professional accessories can make a big difference as students practice real-world workplace expectations and present their final projects with confidence.

As you refresh your wardrobe, consider donating to our new “Dress for Success” room at BHS! Drop-off locations are at the Bloomfield High School Main Office and the Bloomfield Board of Education front foyer.

Together, we can help our seniors look and feel ready for the future!
