Led by Mrs. Rodriguez, World Language Department Head at BHS, students researched and portrayed influential Hispanic and Latino historical figures, transforming their learning into an interactive museum experience. Through research, historical analysis, literacy, world language skills, and cross-curricular connections, students demonstrated both academic rigor and creativity.This authentic performance task is a shining example of how culturally responsive teaching, student voice, and meaningful engagement can come together to create unforgettable learning experiences.

This innovative partnership demonstrates how neighboring school districts can work together to put students first while creating lasting benefits for both communities. By sharing expertise, resources, and ideas, the districts are expanding access to school meals, creating staffing opportunities, and exploring new ways to support local farms and businesses.
As Bloomfield Superintendent Dr. Tracy Youngberg shared, this is a student-centered, win-win partnership that benefits both districts. She also recognized Food Service Director Nick Carambelas for his leadership in making this collaboration a reality.

MakerspaceCT has three tuition-free programs launching this fall for students and young adults!
MAKEnABLE – For high school students ages 14–18. Students will learn additive manufacturing and post-processing while building assistive devices for people in need. Begins October 6. Sign up: Here
MAKEnABLE Plus – For students who have completed MAKEnABLE, EPP, or have two semesters of high school CAD coursework. Students will take on more advanced design projects. Begins October 8. Sign up: Here
Engineering Fundamentals Course (EFC) – Concept to Creation Lab – A free, 60-hour program for young adults ages 18–29 exploring careers in engineering, advanced manufacturing, and product design. Bloomfield Public Schools is excited to partner with the National Education Opportunity Network (NEON) to bring college-level learning opportunities directly to Bloomfield High School students.
This year, BHS juniors and seniors will participate in an Introduction to Microeconomics course offered by Barnard College in partnership with Columbia University. College professors will work directly with students, alongside BHS teachers serving as co-teachers.
Even better, students who successfully complete the course have the opportunity to earn college credit and a university transcript while still in high school!

ActUp Theater is offering performance opportunities for youth ages 8+, teens, and adults through auditions and a special Frozen masterclass.

The masterclass will focus on voice, movement, storytelling, choreography, and audition techniques and will be led by Broadway performer Noah J. Ricketts, known for his roles in Frozen, The Great Gatsby, and Beautiful: The Carole King Musical.

We are proud to celebrate BHS student Iyanla Dorman and faculty member Lisa Clayton, who represented Bloomfield Public Schools at an international performance arts intensive in Chaumont, France!
Iyanla joined approximately 50 performers from across the country for two weeks of intensive training, master classes, and performances. As the youngest singer in the program, she was also one of just eight students selected to perform in a special concert curated by Broadway star Avery Wilson and performed with the Jazz Ensemble.

We kicked off the 2026–2027 school year with an energetic “Back to the ’70s” Annual Convocation at Bloomfield High School on Monday, August 24! From ’70s music and dancing to an inspiring message from 2026 Teacher of the Year Jen Coleman and a fabulous costume contest, our staff brought the energy!
The theme was more than just fun—it represents our commitment to working toward a score in the 70s on the state accountability index and, most importantly, continuing to grow and improve outcomes for our students.
Following Convocation, staff engaged in professional development to prepare for an amazing year ahead. Planting Seeds. Inspiring Growth. Cultivating Excellence.

The entire school community is proud to celebrate Coach Burrows, who has been named the 2026 Connecticut Girls' High School Track & Field Coach of the Year by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
This outstanding honor recognizes Coach Burrows' exceptional leadership, dedication to our student-athletes, and the tremendous success of our girls' track & field program.
