We have been made aware of racist and derogatory text messages that have been sent to Bloomfield students and community members. It is our understanding that individuals across the country have received these hateful messages, and the Town of Bloomfield and the Bloomfield Board of Education stand united in condemning any and all forms of racism, prejudice, or hate within our community. We are deeply disturbed by the recent remarks involving this racially offensive language, which violates the core values of respect, inclusion, and equality that we hold as a town and school district.
Racist language, behavior, and rhetoric have no place in Bloomfield, and we are committed to ensuring that every member of our community feels safe, valued, and respected.
In conjunction with the Bloomfield Police Department, we are actively responding to these incidents and will work with local, state, and federal authorities to assist in their investigation.

We were excited to see our students yesterday. Attendance reached 93.3%. Excellent turn out families. Let’s keep up our attendance numbers high and congratulations to BHS for having the highest attendance total.

Dr. Bethany Silver, Interim Superintendent, welcomes district staff to the start of the 2024-2025 school year during Convocation.
I received a random call from a Bloomfield citizens asking how they could help support our students that may need supplies or a uniform. I asked if this was a parent wanting to assist other students. The caller said, No, I'm in my twenties. I don't have any kids. I just want to help." That beautiful person was Jerissa Johnson and we thank her for her willingness to give and genuine good heart. She donated black polo shirts for BHS students and backpacks filled with school supplies to Metacomet. She declined to take a picture but said she'll see us again around the holiday.
Just two days left until all of our students are filling our hallways with joy! Remember the goal is 100% attendance on the first day. Here are two tips for a great start:
1 . Establish a consistent bedtime routine to develop a healthy sleep routine
2. Organize and prep the night before
Just five fabulous days of Summer vacation left until the start of the 2024-25 school year!
We want to see 100% of our students on the first day!
Tip :Prepare students emotionally by opening a dialogue to discuss their feelings about entering a new grade
