On Monday, October 7th, BHS' Class Act Council, a group of student-athletes at BHS who promote sportsmanship and help to develop and implement different initiatives at the high school, attended the 18th Annual CIAC Sportsmanship Conference at the Aqua Turf. The conference included inspiring stories from current and past athletes, insightful panels, and a keynote address by UCONN legend Kara Wolters. At the conference, BHS' Class Act Council was awarded the Michaels Jewelers Achievement Cup for the 2023-2024 school year, this is the sixth time that the athletic department has received this honor. The Michaels Cup is awarded to schools who create positive environments for their student-athletes through a high standard of sportsmanship. BHS was also awarded the Fred Balsamo Sportsmanship Award at the event. The Fred Balsamo Sportsmanship Award funds sportsmanship initiatives for CIAC member schools based on how well applicants support tolerance, acceptance and respect.
